7 Instagrammers You Have to Follow Right Now for Quilting Inspiration

Posted on Posted in Quilting

When looking for inspiration for a quilting project, nothing puts my creative mode into overdrive more than taking a look at some of the incredible quilts posted by others on Instagram. For this post I have rounded up some of my absolute favourite instagrammers who quilt. If you’re not following these ladies already, you should!

Sufficiently inspired and want to get quilting, but not sure how to get started? Read my introduction to sewing machines for quilting!

Freebirdquiltingdesigns

Carolyn (freebirdquiltingdesigns) is longarm quilter from Melbourne. She is an expert at freehand quiling, and has an incredible eye for detail. Her Instagram feed is a treasure trove of quilting inspiration. My jaw dropped when I saw her Flowering Wreath quilt, which you can see in the picture below. If you fancy one for yourself, Carolyn is selling the pattern on her website.

Quiltingjetgirl

Yvonne (quiltingjetgirl) is a quilter (and former aerospace engineer!) from California. I love her incredible use of colours, like you can see in the stunning autumnal piece below. She also as an online shop.

Myquiltinfatuation

Kelly (myquiltinfatuation) is another US-based quilter who has an Instagram feed full of incredible images. I particularly like her Florisa Sunset quilt, shown below. Believe it or not she has recently found the time between quilts to write a book about quilting! You can read more about it on her website.

Sassyquilter

Paula (sassyquilter) is a quilter from Virginia, who has been quilting for over 10 years! I love her creative uses of geometric shapes and the way she chooses colours which complement each other so perfectly. Her website is sassyquilter.com.

Lilysquilts

Representing the UK, we have Lynne (lilysquilts)! Lynne’s quilts are awesome! She has created so many incredibly intricate pieces, and you can see from a mile away the amount of effort that she has put into each one.

Mybearpaw

Jo (mybearpaw) is another quilter based in the UK. Her Instagram feed is full of colourful inspiration, and she uses the most beautiful fabrics in her works. She has a shop/studio in Edinburgh, for those of you who are in Auld Reekie!

Starting to play with the fabulous @missmustardseed ‘bunnies, birds and blooms’ new fabric line by @freespiritfabric. I’m using up precious vintage embroidery and orphan appliqué for the centre of large star blocks. I’m hoping this is going to become a large quilt! This is my #upnext and #wip for the last day of the #igquiltfest. It’s been a blast, thanks Amy @amyscreativeside! And I nearly managed every day 😊. Also linking up with @thequiltersguild for #qgbiweekendwip! • • #missmustardseed #freespiritfabrics #bunniesbirdsandblooms #joavery #imintheguild #starblocks #applique #vintageembroidery #bluetit #vintagelinen #patchwork #thequiltersguild #iamafreespirit #aurifil #aurifildesigner #aurifil12wt #fabricstash #missmustardseedinstagramtour

Dairyofaquilter

Amy (diaryofaquilter) is a quilter based in Utah. Her quilts are all stunning – it’s obvious she really knows what she’s doing. Her website is packed full of tutorials and patterns, and her Instagram posts are a good laugh too!

Let me know in the comments if you have suggestions for other Instagrammers I should follow!
